Early Literacy
Regina Catholic Schools recognizes that language learning is a developmental process that begins early in life and matures into a life-long activity. It has its foundations in listening and speaking, basic book knowledge and understanding of letter sound relationships and patterns (alphabet) and a problem-solving approach to constructing meaning out of the messages our students see, hear and read.
Early literacy development in Regina Catholic Schools is based on essential practices. We believe that all students have potential. As such we are obligated to provide a language-rich environment, filled with materials with which to write, to listen, to talk about and to read.
