Weekly Prayer for our Students and Staff

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2010

LEADER:  In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Put up your hand if you think that Jesus went to school. (pause)  You are right.  Jesus went to school and learned many important lessons from his rabbis.  Rabbi is the Hebrew word for teacher.  Jesus learned to read and write, he learned about history and science, he learned about math and health and he learned about God.  The rabbis at your school will be teaching you many of the same things that Jesus learned.  Today we pray that during this new school year we will learn the important lessons Jesus wants us to know.  The response to the prayers is Lord, hear our prayer.

ALL: Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That we will learn to always be kind to one another, we pray.

ALL:  Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That we will learn to be loving and understanding, we pray.

ALL:  Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That we will learn to forgive one another, we pray.

ALL: Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That we will learn to be patient with one another, we pray.

ALL: Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That we may learn to follow Jesus’ ways, we pray.

ALL: Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: That our school year may be one filled with many graces and blessings, we pray.

ALL: Lord, hear our prayer.

LEADER: Loving God,
You are the source of all wisdom.  Bless our new school year and our family of faith here at the Regina Catholic School Division. Help us to grow in wisdom and love for you and for each other.  We make our prayer in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

ALL: Amen.

Catholic Quotes of the Week

Tuesday, September 7th - "Our experience is that young people are searching for meaning and purpose to their lives. Once this has been established, once they recognize the profound dignity that they possess, they are in a position to extend this to others. Before this cornerstone has been laid, they are unable to give any proposal to the world and any rationale to their own existence.”     -Anna Halpine

Wednesday, September 8th (Feast of the Birth of Mary) "Words do two major things: They provide food for the mind and create light for understanding and awareness."-Jim Rohn

Prayer for the Feast of the Birth of Mary- God of mercy, we celebrate with joyful hearts the birth of the Virgin Mary, of whom Jesus our Saviour was born.  May this celebration of her birth bring us closer to our Mother Mary and to her beloved Son, Jesus Christ, Our Lord.  Amen.
