Assessment

Elementary Assessment

Regina Catholic Schools supports balanced assessment strategies to accommodate the unique needs of each learner and enable the learner to develop their talents and gifts within our Catholic context. Assessment of learning and assessment for learning need to be balanced in order to provide accurate and timely information about student achievement.
Balanced assessment will address large-scale accountability testing, benchmark assessment for program planning, and classroom assessments that support daily learning.

All assessments must arise from quality standards, yield accurate results, and benefit student learning.

Balanced assessment strives to create a culture for student voice in assessment practices. Students will become reflective participants in their own learning.

Regina Catholic Schools' balanced assessment plan includes curriculum-based common assessments, system-wide assessments, provincial assessments, and national assessments in specific grades and subject areas. This balanced assessment data provides our schools with information on how students are performing. The results of these assessments allow teachers to make informed decisions about instruction. In addition, the school division uses data for system accountability and the identification of areas for future development.
