We begin with a sign of God's love for us in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

This weekend we celebrate Mary's feast as Our Lady of Lourdes.  Mary appeared 18 times to a simple but faithful young girl named Bernadette in a cave near the town of Lourdes in France.  At the shrine that exists now in Lourdes marking this meeting, many healings have taken place. (See https://www.lourdes-france.org/en if interested.)  These healings speak to God's love for us.

St. Paul wrote:

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never ends

The Word of the Lord…Thanks be to God.

Listen to this Irish prayer for wisdom in loving;

Always remember to forget

The things that made you sad.

But never forget to remember

The things that made you glad.

Always remember to forget

The troubles that passed away.

But never forget to remember

The blessings that come each day.

Amen

Hand in hand with young Bernadette we continue our day in love in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
