We begin our prayer in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
In our gospel today Jesus says ‘The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath;” He reminds us that keeping Sunday as an important time for Church and family is good yet, we don’t go to church simply to do our duty but to receive a recharge through word and sacrament so we can go about Jesus’ mission for us in the world and to: “ … make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you…. (Matthew 28:19-20).”
We are a people of relationship with God, one another and our world. Our relationships with “things” cannot be the heart of our life. Let us together build up people relationships in our words and actions of love. Look at someone close to you – how have they experienced God’s love in your treatment of them?
Let us pray:
God of love and peace
You call us to be the presence of Jesus in the world.
Help us to treat one another with respectful honesty
And a patient love as we grow in our ability to learn and our ability
To care for everyone and everything you have gifted to us.
We pray in Jesus’ name.
Mindful of our mission to spread the Good News of God’s love we move into our day in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
