We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
On our Lenten journey with Jesus the prayers of the Stations of the Cross can be very meaningful. At the Second Station, soldiers put a heavy cross on Jesus' shoulders. This cross represents the weight of all our crosses – all our human brokenness, selfishness and suffering.
Jesus does not fight the soldiers or say angry words to them. Even though he had to carry the heavy cross on a long difficult path, he still trusted God and knew that God was with him.
God, I know there are many times when I give up before I should. Please help me to remember the difficult journey in which Jesus carried his heavy cross and how he got up again and kept moving. Be with me during my hardships and when I fall, help me get up again and keep going. Kindly help me to persevere.
