November 22

We begin in the name of Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Listen, everywhere we go we can hear music. Maybe it is the music from the radio or your favorite tunes on your phone or on the TV.  We stream music everywhere.  I’m thinking that even now someone close to you is either humming out loud or has a tune stuck in their head.
Although a similar phrase shows up in Jewish literature, St. Augustine is credited with saying,” Singing in like praying twice.”
Today is the memorial of St. Cecelia, patron of one of our local parishes near the schools of St. Francis, Sacred Heart and St. Luke.  St. Cecelia is the patroness of musicians as she prayed in song to God through her hard times.
Let us form our prayer today around the music in our lives and the music of Love:
Lord may we discover you in the rhythms and beats
that surround us every day.
From footsteps to heart thumps
Your Love is around and within us.
Lord may we discover you in the harmonies and discords
that surround us every day.
From playing and working together to harsh words and hits healed
Your Love is around and within us.
Lord may we discover you in the words and lyrics
that surround us every day.
From speaking kindness and comfort to justice and courage
Your Love is around and within us.
Lord your Love goes beyond words
like the music that is all around us
calling feelings and mystery
Let us sing of you love in all that we do …
In Jesus name we sing and pray …Amen
And we carry a song of justice, peace and healing into our day in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
