Graduation Award Applications
Dear Students:
If you are interested in being considered for any of the Grade 12 awards please carefully read the qualifications needed for each award. Complete the application for each specific award. Include any pertinent information that may benefit your application in the comments section. Applications must be typed. Follow the appropriate format for each award. Each award you want to be considered for must have its own application form. Applications that do not follow these instructions will not be considered. Your application for these awards is considered your consent for distribution of resumé to Riffel Staff. Applications are to be handed into Guidance no later than May 24, 2011.
AWARDS
The Catholic Leadership Award: This Board-sponsored award is given to the student who has demonstrated Catholic leadership at both the school and parish level. This student has demonstrated care for others through his or her actions, attitudes and commitments and has a positive attitude toward students, staff, and the school so that she/he has won the respect of students and staff.

The Joseph McIntyre Award of Merit: This Board-sponsored award is given to the student who has made noteworthy academic progress corresponding with ability, but who is not necessarily on the honour roll and who has contributed strongly to school life through active participation in school activities.

Indigenous Student Award: This Board-sponsored award is given to a student of aboriginal ancestry who has good academic standing, is involved in extra-curricular or aboriginal community activities, who plans to continue his or her education at a post-secondary institution, and has worked for, or plans to work for the betterment of Indigenous people.

Sherwood Cooperative Association in the Sherwood Mall – Cooperative Spirit of the Prairie Award: This award is given to an individual who unselfishly gives of his or her time so others may benefit and who promotes a sense of teamwork and cooperation in the Riffel community.

Knights of Columbus Council #1247 Achievement Award: This award is given to a student who is diligent in academic studies and who contributes to school and parish activities.

Wilkinson Steel and Metals M.A. Riffel Christian Citizenship Award: This award is given to an individual who is a model of Christ’s life in our school, promoting kindness and cooperation in the Riffel community.

Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions Scholarship: This Catholic School Board-sponsored award is given to a female Grade 12 student who has an average above 75% in 20 and 30 classes, combined with community, extracurricular, and parish involvement and who plans on attending any post-secondary program. Two letters of recommendation are required - one from the priest/parish worker and one from a person not related to the family but have known the applicant for at least two years.

Holy Family Knights of Columbus Christian Attitude Award: This award is given to someone who lives out a Christian attitude and has a sincere concern for others.

B.J. Grebinski Award of Excellence: This award is given to a student who has made a positive contribution in the school community as a result of his or her active involvement in both athletics and the arts and who has maintained Honour Roll status.

The Twin Lakes Community Association (TLCA) will offer an annual scholarship/bursary in the amount of $500.00 to one student from each of the high schools in our area (Winston Knoll Collegiate and Riffel High School). All submissions must be emailed to twin.lakes@sasktel.net and received by April 23, 2010.

The Santo Nino Knights of Columbus Award: This award is given to someone who has demonstrated Catholic leadership at the church and school level, who has had excellent attendance (over 97%), who has shown dedication and effort in their studies, and who must be a Canadian citizen.

Ward 10 Councillor Student Scholarship: This scholarship is given to someone who lives in Ward 10 in the city of Regina, is new to Riffel (if possible), and who has good standing in the Riffel community. This scholarship is not based on academic achievement but is awarded to someone who has contributed to the school community, for example through extra curricular activities.

Noble, Johnson, and Associates Student Scholarship: This scholarship is given to someone who completed Law 30 class in either their grade 11 or 12 year and must be entering a post-secondary program in the fall.

Access Centennial Scholarship Program: This scholarship is based upon community involvement, academic achievement, Saskatchewan residency, and post-secondary education plans (this scholarship must be used for continuing education).
