We begin our prayer in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Easter is wonderful season that echoes in every Sunday!

God made the sun,

And God made the trees,

God made the mountains,

And God made me.

Thank you, O God,

For the sun and the trees,

For making the mountains,

And for making me.

Today is the Feast of St. Mark, St. Mark wrote the gospel that bears his name. His gospel is shorter than the others and emphasizes Jesus as a teacher and a person of action.

Listen to Mark's gospel (Mark12:28-31)

...He asked him, "Which commandment is the first of all?" Jesus answered, 'The first is, 'Hear, O Israel:  the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

The word 'gospel' means 'good news.' The good news is that God loved the world so much God gave us Jesus. We experience what is called reverence when we stand in the light of Jesus' life, death and resurrection remembering God's love for us. This past Sunday was optionally Divine Mercy Sunday and the focus again would be that our hearts may be more fully aware of the mercy of God for us personally and for the sake of the world. All very much the heart of Easter!

Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall by, world without end. Amen.
