In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Jesus taught about the importance of forgiveness.  Because of the power of forgiveness, we have hope in our own salvation.  That means we trust that Jesus can make our hearts right and that we are becoming more and more each day the loving people he calls us to be.

Today we remember St. John of the Cross.  John displayed courage and faith in God, even when he was betrayed by his friends and put in prison.  He didn't stay angry with them, but instead prayed and wrote about his experiences: "Where there is no love, it is for you to bring love." Joy is found in forgiveness.

Let us pray:

Another day is beginning and freshly new,

So here I come to ask you, God, if you'll renew me, too?

Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday,

Let me try again dear God to walk closer in Your way.

God, I am well aware I can't make it on my own.

Take my hand and hold it tight, for I can't walk alone.

We conclude with our advent prayer.

God's hope to direct me.

God's love to surround me.

God's joy to warm me.

God's peace to comfort me.

Bless our Advent journey to Christmas with light and patience.

World without end,

With St. John of the Cross at our side we go into our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
