We begin our week in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. Catholics recognize our Blessed Mother's special place. We believe that she was born without sin. This is called the Immaculate Conception.
Later next year, at an event called the Annunciation which we will celebrate in March, she will conceive Jesus in her womb by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Listen to the Gospel of Luke's account of the Annunciation:
The angel Gabriel was sent by God to Nazareth to bring Mary the good news. She had been chosen by God to give birth to God's only son, Jesus. Although Mary was very afraid, the angel Gabriel reassured her by telling her that God had chosen her for this great honour of becoming the mother of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
The Gospel of the Lord,
[Response: Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ]
Like Mary, with God's grace, we never give up hope. We will keep a positive attitude and look for the brighter side of situations in everything we do.
May we reflect the light of Christ as we go about our day today.
May we shine with hope
Casting light where there is fear and worry.
God of hope,
Through love you brought Mary into the world as a sign of purity
May we respond to the pure loving light of Christ
by living in your love.
Let us pray the "Hail Mary":
Hail Mary, full of grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and blest is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
We continue our day with Mother Mary in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
