Elementary:

We begin with a sign of God's love for us in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today we celebrate Mary as Our Lady of Lourdes where Mary appeared 18 times to a simple but faithful young girl named Bernadette in a cave near the town of Lourdes in France .  A place of worship was built there and even today God heals many people who come to Lourdes – all because of a simple, frail little girl who was brave enough to follow God. These healings speak to God's love for us. Are you brave enough to bring Jesus to your world?

Healing is always at the centre of Jesus' life and so today we celebrate the World Day of the Sick. Saint Bernadette's story shows how Jesus ministry continues in our world today and in the Gospel of Mark all who simply touched Jesus' clothes were healed.  May we recognize those time when Jesus has touched and healed us and we pray that we can become Jesus healing love and touch in our world.

We close our prayer with the Serenity prayer: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hand in healing hand with young Bernadette we continue our day in love in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
