In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Lent begins this week and it is a time of waiting for new life and we need to prepare ourselves for living in new ways marked by hope, forgiveness, reconciliation and love.
Let us pray:
Lord, you know we have bad days.
You know we can make poor decisions sometimes.
Help us to make love part of our
Thoughts and actions every day.
Help us free others from fear.
Help us to free others from loneliness.
Help us to free others from bad situations.
Help us to look to Jesus for the decisions we make
Each and every day.
We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
For many Eastern Christians, like the Ukrainian and Orthodox, Lent begins today, "Clean Monday", two days before Ash Wednesday. It is a day of fasting and abstinence. Let us keep these communities in our prayers as together we begin this great journey of faith.
Indeed we need to be gentle and patient with others and ourselves so God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference.
Let us move into our day in the joy of knowing that God loves us always and that we are learning to do the same in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
