February 3

In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit …

As February is Black History month we in Canada remember Viola Desmond who took an anti-segregation stand in a Nova Scotia theatre by sitting in the whites-only section in 1946. She was then arrested and fined, but she helped inspire the country's Civil Rights movement.  Viola appears now on our ten-dollar bills.

Let us celebrate God's justice working through Viola.  Viola had great courage and honour. May she serve to empower us to stand against prejudice and injustice.

Walking with Jesus brings hope and meaning into the coldest as well as the warmest times of our lives.  Who can you stand with and support to remove the face of discrimination and exclusion?

Ask yourself again, "what can I do to bring Jesus to the people and the world around me?

Let us pray the prayer Jesus taught his sisters and brothers…

Our Father ….

As Jesus disciples on our mission, we continue our day in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit.
