In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
May God stir within us the hopefulness of the Holy Spirit to risk and to dream big!
Lord drive from us all actions and inclinations that keep us excluding people, so we can have true unity. May God heal within us hurts and broken friendships and move us to forgiveness.
This Sunday is World Day of Migrants and Refugees (January 14th) and it is an important reminder to many of us whose ancestors came from away to live in this country. Today there are many who come here seeking a new promising life. What face of Jesus do we present to them as we welcome them into our communities? What can we do to help people understand the Jesus we follow?
God of unity and family as we begin this New Year in our schools, we thank you for your abundant goodness in all that we have. Help us to listen to your word and open our hearts so that we may share with others as you have shared with us.
Jesus help us to think about all the things we do and to choose wisely this year.
Jesus help us to be fair to others and treat others with kindness this year.
Jesus help us to be grateful for what we have and to be generous towards others this year.
We ask this from God, Our loving Creator. Amen
We conclude our prayers with a prayer of unity:
God of harmony and unity,
You call all of us together to build your kingdom.
May our ears hear your voice clearly
May our eyes see your beauty in all peoples
May our understanding break down walls of fear and prejudice.
Make our schools
a place of friendship, belonging
and a place of welcome
where everyone feels safe
where everyone has a place
where we are all united in Your love.
With hearts open to learning and growing we move into our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
