In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Today we celebrate the memorial of two early followers of Jesus, Saints Timothy and Titus. They were friends of St. Paul whose conversion story we heard yesterday, who worked hard to spread the message of Jesus to love others far and wide.
Listen to the words of a prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas, one of our Church Fathers or Teachers, as he describes the heart of one who follows Jesus:
Grant me, O Lord my God,
a mind to know you,
a heart to seek you,
wisdom to find you,
conduct pleasing to you,
faithful perseverance in waiting for you,
and a hope of finally embracing you.
And we pray:
May we embrace a love of learning,
a search for the truth
and a dedication to helping others.
May we be who we are,
The “who” that God wants us to be,
even when people make fun of us.
We ask Timothy, Titus and Aquinas to prayer for us as we meet the adventures of our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
