Regina Catholic School Division
January 29

We begin in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

This past Saturday was the Memorial of St. Angela Merici, patron of St. Angela Merici school here in Regina.

St. Angela died on January 27th, 1540 and her spirit lives on today. There are women all over the world that follow the Ursuline order founded by St. Angela of Merici. The Ursulines are a teaching order.  St. Angela was a powerful example of Christ’s call to us to include everyone into our circle of loving and teach them about Christianity – about Jesus.

Let us pray,

God of love and unity, open our eyes to those in need.
Help us to befriend the lonely and welcome them into our lives.

Let us learn from St. Angela.
She was not afraid of change.
She had the strength and courage to stand up to end injustice.
Help us to overcome our fear of change to follow God’s calling.

We especially pray today for all the women in our lives who are examples of strength,
grace, and leadership for us.
We ask for God’s blessings on them now, and always.
We do this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Unite us in love God
As we work together to build your kingdom.
May our ears hear your voice clearly
May our eyes see your beauty in all
May our understanding break down walls of fear and prejudice.
Make our schools
places of friendship
places of belonging
and places of welcome
where everyone feels safe
where everyone has a place
where all are united in You, dear God.

With Saint Angela as our model may we continue our day teaching one another about the love of God, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
