January 7

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Merry Christmas and blessings to the Ukrainian and Byzantine communities who run by a different calendar than the Roman or Latin rite Catholics.

Let's begin our Friday together with a little joyous thinking ...

·      What do you call a sleepwalking nun? A "roamin'" Catholic.

·      What do you call a priest in charge of the school play? The spiritual director.

·   Jake:  What is a million years like to you?

God: Like one second.

Jake: What is a million dollars like to you?

God: Like one penny.

Jake: Can I have a penny?

God: Just a second.

Many people make New Year's Resolutions at the beginning of the New Year. This means they want to do things that make their lives better.  Hopefully we include coming closer to God in our resolutions. What are some things you could do to make you a better person or friend?

Maybe we can make time to go for a walk every day and exercise. Maybe we can try to eat more healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, instead of chips, chocolate bars and caffeinated anything!

Maybe you can spend more time with God in prayer.

Let us pray:  Heavenly Father, at the beginning of this new year, help us to take a good look at ourselves so we can work towards making the necessary changes in our lives so that we may be better in all our relationships and truly live like children of God.

We make our prayers in Jesus' name.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
