Elementary:

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

This past Sunday we celebrated the great feast of Pentecost  - Through what to the disciples felt like being touched by wind and fire the Church was born. God is very dramatic sometimes!

Today we also recognize Jesus' mom, the Blessed Virgin Mary as Mother of the Church. It's an amazing one-two combination which forms a family of faith!

Our Church is rooted in the fiery passionate Holy Spirit and in a simple, quiet yet strong young woman, Mary, who said "yes" enabling Jesus and the Holy Spirit to enter the world in a new and forever exciting way.

Today our Church, along with Mary brings life, hope and healing to millions of people and women/girls are foundational to who we are as Church.

Let's pray:

Lord, we thank you for the gifts of the Spirit lived out in the talents of all good people. We thank Mary for saying "Yes" to letting Jesus and the Holy Spirit be part of our life and world today.  Help us follow the words of the prophet Micah:

May we act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.

Amen.

Our Easter season has now ended – in this new time of thinking about our faith we go arm in arm with Mary we continue our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

This past Sunday we celebrated the great feast of Pentecost - the birthday of the Church. Today we celebrate the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church. It's one-two combination! Our Church is rooted in the Holy Spirit and in a young woman, Mary, who said "yes" enabling Jesus and the Holy Spirit to enter the world in a new and profound way. A living way that today still brings life, hope and healing. Women are foundational to who we are as Church.

Let us listen to this reading from John's gospel (19:25-27)

… Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, 'Woman, here is your son.' Then he said to the disciple, 'Here is your mother.' And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.

The Gospel of the Lord [Response]  Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

We celebrate and thank God for the gifts of the Spirit lived out in all good peoples and we conclude our prayers with the words of the prophet Micah:

May we act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.

Our Easter season has now ended – now we spend time thinking about our faith in new ways as we continue our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
