Elementary:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today is the feast of St. Barnabas one of the patron saints of peacemakers. We invite his prayers as we seek to also bring peace to all we meet.

Let us pray:

Jesus gentle shepherd

Bless your children today

Keep us in your footsteps

Never let us stray.

Guard us in the daytime

Every hour I pray:

Keep our feet from straying

From your narrow way.

In Matthew's Gospel we hear: You received without payment: give without payment.

Let us pause for a moment and ask ourselves if we are Jesus' friends and companions?  Are we trying to share God free love with others as it has been shared with us?  How can you share God's love?

Let us conclude our prayers with the words of the prophet Micah:

May we act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

High School:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

This week is Stop the Arms Trade Week around the world:  Millions of lives have been lost to weapons used in warfare against innocent people.  This week we pray that the leaders will reduce and eventually eliminate the sale of weapons of war.

How do fights start? Lack of honesty is a foundation for ballooning disagreements and fights.

If I take a cookie from the cookie jar when my parents are out of the room, I will probably get away with it.  I may even break something and not tell my parents and again I may get away with it.  I might cheat while playing a game and no one will know.   But, we know that we really didn't get away with anything.   There are always at least two who know what has happened:  myself and God.

God wants us to be people of high integrity, honest and truthful even though it may be difficult.  Lies build upon lies and we this can lead us to becoming people no one will trust – it that who we, you or I, want to be?

Let's pray:

Lord, help us to do what is right even when no one is watching.

Help me to be sincere, trustworthy and honest.

Help me to stand by what I believe to be good and truthful.

The Book of Proverbs the Bible tells us: "The person of integrity walks securely, but the one who takes crooked paths will be found out."

Jesus, thank you for all you have done for me and help to make me a person of great integrity.  Show me the straight and honest path and I will follow.

Let us conclude our prayers with the words of the prophet Micah:

May we act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with our God.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
