Elementary:

We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Along with a message of hope, last Sunday was also International Women's Day, a time for people around the world to commemorate women's struggles for justice and celebrate their achievements. Much work remains to be done to support women in all walks of life.  We must never turn a blind eye to the past and current struggles of women throughout the world.

We pray:

God our Creator, your beauty and goodness is present in all women
who are created in your image of Love.
Help us grow in love for all women and men as amazing images of your love for us.
Help us celebrate our differences so that we may see the gift of your love in more people and places in your world.  We pray in Jesus' name. Amen

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a perfect example of a Christian disciple. Let us recite her special prayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace,

The Lord is with you.

Blessed are you

among women

and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners,

now, and at the hour

of our death.

Amen.

Arm in arm together we continue our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

High School:

We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Last Sunday, aside from being a story affirming Jesus' as the Son of God, was International Women's Day, a time for people around the world to commemorate women's struggles for justice and celebrate their achievements. Jesus is reveled in all men and women and we need to recognize the dignity of all people regardless of gender.

Canadians owe great respect to the Canadian women who made many contributions to our country.  These include among others:

Kenojuak Ashevak – a famous Inuit artist and role model for many Inuit women

Margaret Laurence – a giant of Canadian literature from Neepawa Manitoba – think The Stone Angel.

Viola Desmond – challenged segregation in Halifax Nova Scotia which officially ended in 1954 – check out our 10 dollar bill!
Lucy Maud Montgomery – beloved author – think Anne of Green Gables and more …

We must never turn a blind eye to the past and current women's struggle through.

We pray:

God our Creator, your beauty is present in all women, both inside and out. Help us grow beyond our own prejudices of gender injustices, hatred and abuse.  Help us to appreciate and celebrate our differences, so that we may see the gift of your love in more people and places in your world.  Mold us into Your inclusive image.  We pray in Jesus' name. Amen

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is a solid example of a Christian disciple. Let us conclude our prayer today by saying her special prayer:

Hail Mary, full of grace,

The Lord is with you.

Blessed are you

among women

and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners,

now, and at the hour

of our death.

Amen.

Arm in arm together we continue our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
