Elementary:

We begin in the name of the Father …+

Ever play with Play-doh, plasticine, clay? It's fun to twist and mold and use my imagination to create new things. Jeremiah uses an image of clay to describe our life with God.

Jeremiah (18:1-11. adapted) tells us that the LORD says, "… just like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in God's [my] hand."

Like a potter working with clay
Jesus shapes our outsides as we grow up
and our insides too in how we think and act
towards one another in love and forgiveness.

Some days I feel like uncooperative clay.
Sometimes I want to be a superhero model, saving the world
But God wants me to be flowerpot, a place for another to grow and bloom.

Sometimes I want to be a beautiful vase for a rose,
and God wants me to be soup bowl from which a homeless person can get a meal.

Sometimes I want to be shiny, beautiful and admired by everyone
yet God wants me to be a basin in which Jesus can wash wounded feet.

So, we pray that we find the courage to be what God wants us to be in the world
it is then that all feels well in our hearts.

Amen

Pope Francis helps us find the shape of Jesus in the world, each other and in ourselves. Today is the 7-year anniversary of Pope Francis becoming Pope!

We continue our day prayers for Pope Francis and with open hearts so God can shape all of us to help others, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

High School:

We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Jesus tells us that He is the Way, the Truth and the Light (John 14:6). Pope Francis helps us find the light and love of Jesus in the world, each other and in ourselves. Today is the 7-year anniversary of Pope Francis becoming Pope!

Let us pray:

Jesus,

You show people the right way.

But look at me wandering now,

Lost as if I were in a maze.

I stumble on the rocks of my temper.

I fall down the holes of my bad moods.

I crash against the walls of my grudges.

I zigzag around the bumps of my pouting.

Jesus, show me the way!

Please respond to each prayer saying: Show me the way!

When I am lost in confusion

Response: Show me the way!

When I am trying to make the right choices

Response: Show me the way!

When I am tempted to give up

Response: Show me the way!

When I need your help

Response: Show me the way!

Show us the way Lord as move into our day with a prayer for the good of Pope Francis in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
