Elementary:

We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

In Psalm 31 we read, "… into your hands I commend my spirit, for you have redeemed me, O LORD."

A story from Ireland:

My son and I went on a walking pilgrimage across a major portion of Ireland. We backpacked the Wicklow Way from Dublin to Glendalough.

Then we turned east to Kildare, home of Saint Brigid. Due to time, weather, and memento-seeking pilgrims, some of the rarely used trail went unmarked. We slogged through the dark forest where wind and rain had overturned century-old trees. The ground was uncertain. Finding solid footing meant distinguishing a green patch of sod from a sinking bog.

We came to Saint Kevin's Pool, a freezing pond. There was a narrow, deep stream that we had to jump across. My son cleared it with little effort. Age, fatigue, and my forty-pound pack made the stream look like the Grand Canyon to me. I took a running leap. My front foot hit the opposite rocky bank, but my pack pulled me backwards. With one strong arm, my son reached out, grabbed my rain poncho, and pulled me to safety. My hollow fear of falling out of control into disaster was immediately reversed into escape and life. I am as thankful that my son's hands were there to rescue me, as I am grateful for the saving hands of God each day

Lord thank you for the many hands who show your care for us each day. Amen.

Hand in hand with Jesus who is close to us always we move into our day in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

High School:

We begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Psalm 34 says "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.", Luke 6 says "Forgive and you will be forgiven".

Many of us have experienced a heart broken by someone in some way. It might have been a fight with a brother or sister. Maybe it was an argument with a friend, parent, spouse or teacher that left us hurt and feeling alone. Every day has many opportunities for our hearts to be broken somehow – but each day also has many opportunities to experience forgiveness and the Lord's healing…if we seek them and him.

Let us pray:

Lord help us make daily choices
that bring life and love
to all we meet.

Lord give us companions
who are at once broken hearted
yet full of the joy of your healing presence.

Through our words and deeds
May we be people
who bring a little bit of the light of Christ
into the occasional darkness
of other's lives.

Hand in hand with Jesus who is close to us always we move into our day in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
