Boom, we begin our prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
At the Third Station of the Cross Jesus falls for the first time. The cross pushes into Jesus' shoulder, and its weight is unbearable. The stones on the road hurt his feet. People yell and push Jesus while soldiers shout for him to move faster. Jesus is physically and mentally exhausted. When Jesus falls, he gets up – love never ends – he knows his Father is with him.
God, my problems may seem small to those around me, but you know how hard they are for me to carry sometimes. Hardships are an unfortunate part of life. It could be an illness in our family or an unkind friend – these experiences are truly difficult to deal with. But there is a ray of hope that lies in Jesus. Jesus, help us put our trust in you and the good people you sends into our lives and the love you put into our hearts.
Lord, give us the courage to take up our own crosses and the perseverance to keep on carrying them. But, beyond our own trials, please also help us to remember and pray for those who are less fortunate than ourselves. When we are tempted to complain, kindly help us remember you and the cross that you carried for all people. May we never let hardship turn to despair but hope always in you. We ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
