Elementary:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

In 1 Corinthians 9:26a, St. Paul tells us he follows Jesus, "So I do not run aimlessly."

Sometimes our days may feel like we're going in circles and not getting anywhere – like a dog chasing its tail.

St. Paul says Jesus is the one who gives us good guidance for our lives. He can teach us how to get along with one another and how to see ourselves as the good people we really are, regardless of what the bullies and others say about us and do to us.

Let us pray:

Jesus help us to see you as someone who can guide us into a happy life. Help us see you as someone who can be our best friend and that to follow you makes us a winner.  Amen.

Seeking new life, we close our prayer in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen

High School:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

In 1 Corinthians 9:26a, St. Paul tells us he follows Jesus, "So I do not run aimlessly."

Have you heard the phrase "in it to win"? These words are tossed around as a way to express a person's deep commitment to a certain outcome, a relationship, or goal. The phrase is used so much that it is almost meaningless.

Those four little words may be just a catch phrase, but the question arises: what are we "in it" for? How deeply committed are you to following through on your commitments? Will you persevere and continue working toward your goals, even if there are obstacles? Do you even have a goal in mind? How "in it" are you?  What are you "in it" for: self, power, money, fame, or hope, love, forgiveness, serving and caring for others, creation and God? Think about what drives you and your choices.

Being "in it" means that you are passionate about something or someone or some idea. No matter what, you move toward your goal. You are not aimless because you have a destination, a purpose, and a passion. So, are you in it to win it – are your choices bringing life and hope and Jesus or is it "all about me"?

Let us pray:

Jesus help us to recognize you as someone who can guides us into a meaningful and full life. Help us see you as one worthy of our commitment and that to follow you makes us a winner.  Amen.

Seeking new life, we close our prayer in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
