We begin our prayer in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The past Sunday was Ascension Sunday and we witnessed Jesus returning to heaven – a miraculous moment that affirmed Jesus in his ministry and mission. I'm sure it was a surprise for Mary and the disciples.
In many ordinary ways, Mary and Joseph raised Jesus from a baby – they were a family and had to deal with family issues like we do in our own families. Families today take many forms, so we pray that we all become more caring family members.
God made us a family.
We need one another.
We love one another.
We forgive one another.
We work together.
We play together.
We worship together.
Together we use God's word.
Together we grow in Christ.
Together we love all people.
Together we serve our God.
Together we hope for heaven.
These are our hopes and ideals.
Help us to attain them,
O God, through Jesus our Brother.
Sunday was also World Communications Day and so we pray for the gifts of true and clear communications within families and between all peoples.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
