Life can move along at a rhythm that can be monotonous, especially when we've had lockdowns and interruptions to our day-to-day reality. God gives us strength and the ability to renew our spirits. Renewing our prayer life can renew our spirits. Let us pray for a renewal of spirit as we come out of some challenging times.

We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Loving God,

You give us the gift of faith and the knowledge that you are always there for us. We seek to renew our prayer life and our spirits. We know that you are always there for us and for this, we are always grateful.

We make this prayer in the name of Jesus, our teacher and friend.

Listen: A reading from the book of prophet Zephaniah.

The Lord your God is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love, he will exult over you with loud singing.

The Word of the Lord.  Thanks be to God.

Reflection: How can we be renewed by God's love? Prayer will open doors. Renewing our prayer leads to our renewal in God's love. Pope Francis tells us that we cannot pray without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He says that prayer transforms us because it opens doors to the Holy Spirit. It's not easy to be mindful of our need for prayer. But, in our quest for renewal, we can commit to increasing the time we devote to prayer. See what happens.

We pray:

Loving God,

Thank you for the gift that we have in prayer. Help us to strengthen our faith and commitment to prayer so that we may be renewed.

We make this prayer in the name of Jesus.
