Today is WORLD DAY FOR PREVENTION OF CHILD ABUSE

Almighty Father,
We lift up the children of this world, the ones who live comfortably and the ones who have no roof above their heads. We lift up the children who have never heard of You. And today as we pray, we remember and lift up in Your tender loving hands, the abused and abandoned, living without love, without hope, and without the basic needs of living.

A reading from the Gospel of Mark

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

The Gospel of the Lord. ALL: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Your response is: Lord, hear our prayer. ALL: Lord, hear your prayer.

May all who work with children and young people be watchful in protecting them from harm. We pray to the Lord. (Lord, hear our prayer)

We pray that all families strive to provide safe and loving environments for children and young people. We pray to the Lord. (Lord, hear our prayer)

May those who have been abused experience Christ's great love for them and God's healing grace. We pray to the Lord. (Lord, hear our prayer)

We pray that if there are any students who are being mistreated at home, you will have the courage to tell another adult or a teacher so you can get the help you need. We pray to the Lord. (Lord, hear our prayer)

We ask all our prayers in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
