In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen

Love, forgiveness, compassion and healing are life giving. Violence, selfishness, and prejudice are not life giving. We need to pray that we can tell the difference between what brings life for all people and what does not – even if it involves some uncomfortable moments for us as we learn to help others.

Let us pray:

God of peace and justice,
Thank you for our gift of freedom.
We are free to think, to act, and to worship with Jesus as our inspiration.

This gift of freedom comes with a price and we thank you
for the brave men and women who fought for this gift.

We pray for our Peacekeepers around the world
who continue to help people build peaceful ways in their countries.

Thank you for your son Jesus who modeled the way to live in peace and
justice. We ask that you grant us the gift of Peace throughout the world.

Today is the date that the United Nations has declared to be the International Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women. We continue today to pray for peace and an end to violence against women.

We close our prayer and move into our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit. Amen.
