We begin our reflections and prayers today in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Welcome to Advent! A time of waiting, patience, and preparation.  Our liturgical colours turn into purple and we begin to wonder about the birth of the Christ Child.  Today also marks the first day of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, for the Jewish community.  Advent for Christians in awaiting the dawning of the Bethlehem star and the coming of the light of the world. The light that came and still comes into our hearts brings meaning to our lives and hope to the world.

In the prophet Isaiah 7:14 we read: Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

That was about 700 years before Jesus' birth! God kept the ancient promise!

And we pray

Lord give us courage to love and forgive and to put you at the centre of our lives.  Give us patience to ponder the true meaning of CHRISTmas. Help us to experience your guidance and protection every day.  May your love light grow within us.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

We continue our day in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
