Elementary:

Good morning ___school name____.Wherever you are in the building, please stand up for Jesus and join me in the sign of our faith.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

We begin this morning by lighting one purple candle. Have someone in the room turn the lights off in the classroom so we can focus in on our Advent wreath. (pause)

Today is the FEAST DAY of St. Andrew. St. Andrew School was located in Douglas Park. Many staff and students have wonderful memories of their time spent together there. Today, we thank God for the gift of St. Andrew School.

Today is also the First Monday in Advent.

We began by lighting one purple candle. This purple candle represents HOPE.

The color, PURPLE, represents the season of Advent.

Let's learn a little about our ADVENT wreath.

The evergreen wreath represents life, and an everlasting love our God has for each of us.

The circle of the wreath symbolizes the never ending of God's love.

Our Advent wreath has three purple candles and one pink candle.

Each candle represents a week in Advent, like this week's message of HOPE.

The lit candles are a reminder of the light of Christ brought into the world.

We ask God now to bless our Advent wreaths.

Creator God, we ask for a blessing on our Advent wreaths. As we light our wreath each day at school, may we prepare our hearts well for the coming of Jesus.

As we light one purple candle of HOPE each day this week, we pray we will all do our part in bringing HOPE to those who need us most.

Maybe we could take some food items to the Food Bank or put them in the bins at the grocery stores. Maybe we could make a phone call to grandma or grandpa who would love to hear our voice. Maybe we could help mom or dad gather the winter jackets and mitts we no longer fit and take them to a collection bin for someone needing them.

Jesus, we want to follow you. Show us how we can spread your love. AMEN In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN
