October 1

Elementary:

We begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today is the feast day of St. Thérèsa of Lisieux [Liz-U]. One of our Regina parishes, Little Flower, is named after St. Theresa of Lisieux  who is the patron saint of florists, missionaries, pilots, and priests.

This mornings' short story is called THE BIKE RIDE….I hope you enjoy it.

The Bike Ride – author unknown

At first, I saw God as my observer, keeping track of the things I did wrong, deciding whether I would be going to Heaven or Hell when I die. God was out there and everyone knew about him, but I didn't really know Him.

But later on, it seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride; but it was a bicycle built for two, and I noticed that God was in the back seat helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since!  God makes life so exciting.

When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. But when God took the lead, is was completely different. It was all I could do to hang on! Even though it looked like madness, God said, "Keep pedaling!"

I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are You taking me?" God laughed and didn't answer, and I started to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure; and when I'd say, "I'm scared," God would lean back and touch my hand. God took me to people with gifts that I needed; gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy. They gave me their gifts to take on my journey - our journey, God's and mine.

And we were off again. Then God said, "Give the gifts away. They're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did. I gave them to people we met, and I found that in giving to others - I felt really good about myself.

I did not trust God at first, in control of my life. I thought he'd wreck it. But now that I trust God, I'm willing to challenge myself and take some risks.

And when I feel like I can't go on any more, God just smiles and says, "Keep pedaling – I'm with you all the way!"

What a blessing it is knowing our GOD is with us today and everyday…so ___SCHOOL NAME____ - just keep pedaling and let's make today a great day!

October is a month where we pay special honor to Mary and so will we end our prayer with a Hail Mary.

Hail Mary

Full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women

and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
