Elementary:

In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

We spend much of our day talking and listening!

Did you remember that we can talk with God too? It's called praying.

Jesus teaches us, his sisters and brothers, how to have a prayer conversation with God in Matthew's gospel:

'Pray then in this way:
Our Father in heaven,
   hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come.
   Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
   And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial,
but rescue us from the evil one.

Dear Lord, help each of us find our own prayerful way to speak to you, we ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

We continue our day in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

High School:

In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

We spend much of our day talking, texting and maybe even listening!

We can carry on a conversation with Jesus through prayer. In both Luke (11:1-4) and Matthew (6:9-13) Jesus teaches us how to have a conversation with God. We speak and then we listen for Jesus response in the word around us:

In Luke's gospel we hear:

'When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
   And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial.'

Matthew's version of the Lord's prayer goes like this:

'Pray then in this way:
Our Father in heaven,
   hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come.
   Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
   And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not bring us to the time of trial,
but rescue us from the evil one.

Each of us finds our own way to speak to our Creator God – may we find our spiritual voice and may our actions reflect the love of God within us.

In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.
