September 10

Elementary:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today and tomorrow make up the Jewish Feast of Rosh Hashanah or Jewish New Year.

It is a day of prayer for our Jewish brothers and sisters and a time to ask God to grant us a year of peace, success and blessing. But it is also a joyous day when we proclaim God King of the Universe. God is King of all and we are God's beloved people.

From today until September 16th we also join celebrations around Treaty 4 Days and remember that we are all Treaty people.  So, when Jesus says: "Do to others as you would wish them do to you." Mt. 7:12 (the Golden Rule) We can ask ourselves how we have acted towards one another in the past and in the present, as we look to the future?

We pray: Help us, God, to remember this Golden Rule, and have the courage to treat each other and all peoples with respect.

Let us pray with the words that Jesus taught all of God's children:

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,

Hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come.

Thy Will be done,

on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those

who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

We move into our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today and tomorrow make up the Jewish Feast of Rosh Hashanah or Jewish New Year.

Rosh Hashanah actually means "Head of the Year." Just like the head controls the body, our actions on Rosh Hashanah have a tremendous impact on the rest of the year.

Today is a day of prayer for our Jewish brothers and sisters, a time to ask God to grant us a year of peace, prosperity and blessing. But it is also a joyous day when we proclaim God King of the Universe. God is King of all and we all are God's beloved people. All of us are.
