In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today is the Memorial of St. John Chrysostom (krisustum). He was a famous writer and preacher in the early Church.  St. John had many friends and enemies along his faith journey.

Let us pray:

 God, our Creator,

You give us the light of a new day.

May our lives be lived as a blessing

of goodness, truth and beauty.

Lighten the cares of our hearts

with a good sense of humor

today and every day,

now and forever.

St. John was a teacher, listen now to this teacher's prayer about a new school year:

Loving God,
Thank you for bringing me my classroom of children to teach this year.
Help me guide them each day, into learning all your wonders.
Be with us as we share the adventures and challenges of learning and growing together.
Forgive us when we get frustrated and tired along the way, and show us how to stay focused on your mission for each of us.
In all we say, in all we do, in all we feel...we worship you.

Together we pray with the words that Jesus taught us:

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,

on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those

who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

We continue our day together in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
