Elementary:

We begin our day in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today is the Feast of the Canadian Martyrs and their Companions in Canada. A martyr gives up his or her life while serving God.

The Canadian Martyrs, like St. John de Brébeuf and St. Isaac Jogues were French Jesuit priests who brought the Christian faith to the North American Indigenous Peoples. When they came to the new land, they lived in extreme poverty and hardship so that they could witness to the indigenous peoples and live out their Christian faith.  Throughout their lives, they demonstrated great courage and died bringing the Christian faith to the peoples of their day. May we never be afraid to speak about Jesus.

We pray:

Let us pray for the ability to fearlessly share our faith with the words that Jesus taught us:

Our Father,

Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done,

on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those

who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

High School:

We begin our prayer time in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Today is the Feast of the Canadian Martyrs and their Companions in Canada. A martyr gives up his or her life while serving God.

The Canadian Martyrs, like St. John de Brébeuf and St. Isaac Jogues were French Jesuits who brought the Christian faith to the North American Indigenous Peoples. When they came to the new land, they lived in extreme poverty and hardship so that they could witness to the indigenous peoples and live out their Christian faith.  Throughout their lives, they demonstrated great courage, and died in the service of bringing the Christian faith to the early North America communities. They are models for us who seek to take the initiative in showing Christian leadership.

We pray:

We ask the Canadian Martyrs to pray for protection on this great land.  Help us renew faith which you helped establish. Pray that we may bring all our fellow citizens to a knowledge and love of Jesus. Help us to continue the work which you have begun.  Pray for our homes, our schools, and for our leaders. Help us find the courage to respect all people and all faiths.

In Jesus' name we pray …

Amen.

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
