    3rd Annual First Ride Program Regina Catholic Schools in partnership with Regina Public Schools With over 450 students & Parents in the past 2 years enjoying the experience. The First Ride Program allows parents/guardians and students the opportunity to ride on a school bus and learn about school bus safety. Trained professionals will be on site to assist young children and their parents in becoming comfortable with their first ride on a school bus. • No pre-registration required • No cost to attend • Attend session that suits your schedule • Take a photo of your child boarding the bus • Attend more than one session if your child needs more time to feel comfortable riding the bus Parents will get the opportunity to photograph their child getting off the bus. Even if your child only rides the bus for school events this program is meant for you too 😊 Date Time School Name Location Tuesday, August 21st 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Sacred Heart (1325 Argyle St) School parking lot Elphinstone & 7th Ave Tuesday, August 21st 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. École Harbour Landing School (4419 James Hill Rd) School parking lot on Aerodrome Rd Wednesday, August 22nd 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Jack MacKenzie (3838 Buckingham Dr.) School parking lot Buckingham Dr Wednesday, August 22nd 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. École St. Angela Merici (6823 Gillmore Dr) School parking lot on Gillmore & Maple Ridge REVIEWING SAFETY PROCEDURES All parents and students in attendance: School Divisions will proceed to board their corresponding buses: • Walking around the bus • Danger zones • Identifying your school bus • Demonstration of a rear door evacuation • How to cross an intersection safely • Boarding a bus properly using three-point contact and single file • How to remain seated properly • How to sit with students we don’t yet know • The Emergency exit and windows inside the bus • The importance of not eating or drinking on the bus • What NOT to do on a bus (yes, this is where we get to act a little silly) • How to safely exit the bus when the driver tells the child it is safe to do so after seeing parents waiting. IMPORTANT REMINDERS DO NOT drive in, park around, or block off the coned-in areas. Younger siblings will not be allowed to ride on the bus for this event. There will be no washroom facilities available as the schools will not be open at this time. There will be 4 sessions: Genocide (focus on Indigenous experience) Holocaust (Azrieli Fdt presenting) Holodomor (Holly Paluck, Nadia Prokopchuk) Hope - Stephen Pinker, The Righteous Among the Nations Teachers and school leaders will leave with access to great resources that are very, very teacher friendly.
