Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

This month, as Advent begins, so too does a new liturgical calendar. We now enter Year A, and four weeks of reflection and waiting.

The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God, as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: "I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare the way - a voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him." (Mark 1:1-3)

November brought a change to our Board of Trustees. Bob Kowalchuk continues to be our Chairperson and our new Deputy Chair is Vicky Bonnell. We thank Bob for continuing as Chair for another year; and extend a sincere thank you to outgoing Deputy Chair, Donna Ziegler, for her leadership over the past year. May the Lord guide and bless all who lead in our school division.

Thank you to all elementary school families who participated in our Student-Led Conferences and Celebrations of Learning in November. We pray for continued success for all our students and that the goals set are attainable. We were very pleased with our first Annual School Community Council (SCC) Parent Conference which was held on November 23rd.  The presenters were great and feedback was positive. Thank you to all those involved in making our first SCC Provincial Parent Conference such a success. The Attendance Matters movement and the importance of being at school continues to be our focus. Your continued support in this area is always appreciated. Parental engagement and student attendance truly does help our children succeed.

December brings about a flurry of activity in our schools. From Advent liturgies and Masses to Christmas concerts, and service projects, we are grateful to our staff and families for the extra time shared with our school communities. Please enjoy the Christmas break coming up. The last day of school is Friday, December 20, 2019, and we look forward to our students returning refreshed and ready to learn on Monday, January 6, 2020.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)
