High Schools – Return To School

Regina Catholic Schools are preparing to re-open schools in a way that is as safe as possible for students and staff and adheres to the guidelines and direction provided by the Government of Saskatchewan Re-Open Plan, and the direction of the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

This year there will be some changes to our traditional high school day schedule. Our four high schools will be utilizing block scheduling. This will significantly reduce the number of classes a student takes within the day, limit the movement in the building during the day, and minimize student-teacher and student-student contacts. Additionally, there will be a staggered lunch hour and staggered breaks. Our administration teams are working hard to adjust student schedules to reduce student cohort sizes and maximize learning opportunities. More information regarding student timetables and site-specific bell schedules will be provided by your child's school by Aug. 26.

High School Staggered Start

Our staff will be ready to greet students Sept. 8. We will be implementing a staggered start orientation for high school students arranged alphabetically by last name. Sept. 8 and 9 will use an alternate day schedule and Sept. 10 and 11 will be full day instruction with half our school population to allow our school teams to assess and address any potential concerns regarding ingress, egress and bell schedules. All students will commence attending full time Sept. 14. This extra time will be used to provide education around virus transmission, our new safety protocols, and well-being support. Orientation information will be provided by your school by Aug. 26.

Student that are new to the division, or for students going to a new school will be required to access our on-line registration link on each of the school's websites.

Elementary - Return to School

Regina Catholic Schools are preparing to re-open schools in a way that is as safe as possible for students and staff and adheres to the guidelines and direction provided by the Government of Saskatchewan Re-Open Plan, and the direction of the Saskatchewan Health Authority.

We have identified 4 days at during the week of September 8-14 as transition days to support new routines and procedures. The first day of school is September 8 with a staggered start.  Students will be divided alphabetically on those days to reduce the number in the classrooms. This will allow staff and students to ease into the new routines.

  • Sept. 8 & 10 – Families with last names A-K attend
  • Sept. 9 & 11 – Families with last names L-Z attend
  • Sept. 14 – Full capacity programming commences.
  • Schools will contact Pre-K and Kindergarten families about school start details.

Exact times and details will be sent to families from their school by August 26, 2020.
