As promised, Regina Catholic Schools continues to meet with local health officials, evaluating the COVID-19 situation in our city. With the knowledge that cases in Regina are on the downward trend, and the full support of local medical health officers, Regina Catholic Schools will return to Level 2 (face to face with masks) in our elementary schools, and Level 3 (hybrid as required by the Chief Medical Health Officer who has stated that schools larger than 600 operate at Level 3) in our four large high schools (Riffel, O'Neill, Miller and LeBoldus) beginning Monday, May 3, 2021.
In anticipation of additional protection for our schools, we are expecting to receive information from the Ministry of Education on both administration of rapid testing, and vaccinations for educational staff. Additionally, medical grade children's masks were delivered to our schools this week.
We remind students, families, and staff that a successful return to the physical classroom is dependent on the cooperation of students and families to closely follow all COVID safety measures in the community and at home. In some cases, parents may choose to keep their children home from school, and we respect this decision. Please note that Regina Catholic school Division staff are not expected to provide additional instruction for students who are not at school in these circumstances but will continue to provide daily updates of homework on their virtual platform.
Our prayers include all those impacted directly and indirectly by the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask the Lord to keep us safe and guide us through the reopening of our school buildings.
