Board of Trustees Newsletter

November 01, 2018
Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

As a school division, we spent October being grateful and celebrating Thanksgiving. In November, we remember and pray. November 1st is All Saints Day, when we honour and pray to our Saints in heaven; and November 2nd is All Soul’s Day, a day when we especially remember all those who have gone before us. On Remembrance Day, November 11th we pray for all those who continue to give selflessly to protect us; for those who live in pain from their experiences; and for all those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to keep Canada strong and free.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.   Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
~ John McCrae

Each November, we have an update in the organization of our Board of Trustees. We expect to have a new Chair and Deputy Chair elected from our steady group of seven trustees at our Public Board Meeting on Monday, November 5th at 5:00 pm. All are invited to attend this meeting, or any of our public meetings.
We will gather together again on Wednesday, November 7th at 6:00 to meet with our CSCCs. Opportunities to connect directly with parents are very important to us, and we look forward to meeting with all of our CSCCs at Sacred Heart Community School. We are very grateful for all of our parents who take the time to invest in school communities. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and caring.

This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance. ~ Exodus 12:14

Students will have some time off school as we join the rest of the country in honouring our veterans. Thursday, November 8th is a day off for students, but a day of professional development for our teachers and staff. Friday, November 9th is a school holiday, and Monday, November 12th is a statutory holiday for all students and school staff. We encourage anyone, who is able, to please attend a service on Sunday, November 11th to pray for all those who serve or have served our country.
