Pre-Kindergarten: If your child was born in 2015 or 2016, he or she may be elligible for Pre-kindergarten this fall. Pre-kindergarten supports young children (ages 3 and 4) in all areas of their development (spiritual, social-emotional, physical, intellectual) to lay a strong foundation for future school success. Each Pre-kindergarten class is taught by a qualified teacher and supported by an instructional assistant. Learning through play and inquiry, as well as family engagement, are essential components. Pre-Kindergarten is not a universal program; the Ministry of Education sets criteria for selecting children who would most benefit from an educational setting prior to Kindergarten.
Kindergarten: If your child was born in 2014, he or she can register for kindergarten! Kindergarten is available in all Regina Catholic Elementary Schools to children who turn 5 by December 31st of the current calendar year. Our division offers this program in both English and French Immersion. Kindergarten is a half day (mornings or afternoons), Monday to Friday program. Kindergarten is an activity centered environment featuring learning through inquiry, play and exploration. The classrooms are intentionally designed to support children in active participation, inspiring wonder and questioning, facilitating literacy and numeracy learning as well as the holistic development of the child.
