The Government of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation (STF) have been unable to negotiate a new agreement. The STF announced today that its members voted in favour of job action. The possibility now exists for teachers to take some form of job action.
Teacher job action could include withdrawal of extra-curricular activity, withdrawal of lunch and playground supervision over the noon hour, half-day or full-day strikes, rotating strikes, or even a general strike.
Should any of these job actions occur, the Regina Catholic School Division will inform families as soon as possible to ensure the safety and well-being of students. We have formally asked the Regina Catholic School Teachers' Association (RCSTA) to provide us with 72 hours notice of any job action. If and when we receive notice, we will share the information with all families, and post it on our website, www.rcsd.ca.
As always, our top priority is the safety of students and staff. Your cooperation in staying informed will help ensure all students remain safe.
