August 11, 2020

After the release of our Return to School Plan last Tuesday August 4 and the government announcement on Tuesday August 11, we are providing an update related to masks. We continue to work with the understanding that our plan is fluid and may require additional edits as we track the behaviour of COVID-19. Therefore, our revised plan will include the following statement;

The Regina Catholic School Division is fully supportive of mask wearing as a step taken to reduce the risk of transmitting the COVID-19 virus. On Thursday, August 6 the Board of Trustees made the decision to mandate all students from grades 4-12 and all staff, to wear a non-medical mask when two meters of physical distancing cannot be maintained. This decision is now supported by the government of Saskatchewan as well. We suggest but are not mandating students in PreK to grade 3 to wear a mask if their families so choose. There will be some who are unable to wear masks, and these requests will be considered on a case by case basis. All parents and  visitors to our schools will also be required to follow the same guidelines.
