What is a CSCC?
It is the new name for all parent organizations in our school
division.
What changes will we see?
There will be some changes in membership (new members) and
some changes in the role of the council (advising schools and
the Board on certain topics)
Why are we changing?
The structure of education across the province hasn’t really
been updated since 1944. As we all know, the world has
changed a great deal in the last 62 years! A recent study
likened these changes in society to an earthquake of 7.5 on the
Richter scale. This “earthquake” has a great impact on schools
and they are trying hard to cope. As a result, the government is
updating education in a variety of ways – SchoolPLUS,
Continuous Improvement Framework, Amalgamation, Taxation,
Funding, and School Community Councils.
How can I learn more about Catholic School Community
Councils?
Some of the details are still “in progress”. For updates, talk to
your Principal, check the system website www.rcsd.ca , watch
for more information in your school newsletter and parish
bulletin.
