Trades Scholarships

​​​​Apprenticeship Incentive Grant 

Registered apprentices who have successfully finished their first or second year/level (or equivalent) in one of the Red Seal trades can apply for the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG), which is a taxable cash grant of $1000.00 per year/level up to a maximum of $2000.00.

Apprenticeship Completion Grant 

Registered apprentices who have completed their training and become a certified journeyperson in a designated Red Seal trade and who either the Red Seal endorsement or a provincial or territorial Certificate of Qualification can apply for the Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG), which is a taxable cash grant of $2000.00. 

Automotive Industries of Association of Canada 

There are 3 different scholarships for students entering programs in the automotive aftermarket industry. This includes: automotive apprenticeship, auto body, hard parts, heavy duty mechanic or machinists. 

Application deadlines are varied.  

Canadian Welding Association

The CWA Foundation Secondary School Awards program was founded in 2014 for teh purposes of promoting and encourating the pursuit of post-secondary eduction in welding. The awards are for students who show an aptitude and passion for the welding industry and/or financial need, and are applying to a certified welding program offered by a publically funded Canadian College or University.  Application deadline is Feb. 16, 2018.

Holmes for Homes Foundation 

Every academic year The Holmes Foundation will award up to ten scholarships of $1,500 each - up to five will be awarded to male students and up to five will be awarded to female students. The students must be entering or enrolled in a residential construction program at a Canadian college or university. 

Applications deadline is August 17th, 2017. 

Saskatchewan School Boards Association 

Each year, the Saskatchewan School Boards Association award a $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school students who remain in Saskatchewan in post-secondary study in a technical/trade area. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of demonstrated good character, community leadership, financial need, and a 500-word essay.

Application deadline is August 31st annually. 

Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship Industry Scholarship 

These are awarded to selected, eligible high school graduates throughout the province who have completed the SYA Program and will be pursuing a career in the skilled trades. The scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, will be  awarded to graduating students nominated by selected provincial high schools each June.

TransCanada Trades Scholarships

As a leading North American energy infrastructure company well positioned for continued growth, TransCanada wants to promote and encourage the development of a skilled energy workforced in the communities where we live and work. They have developmed the TransCanada Trades Scholarship to support those students who are pursuing a creer in trades relevant to the energy industry. Application ​deadlines vary.
