Trustee Newsletter
Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

During this season of Lent, we find ways to make amends with the Lord. Ash Wednesday was the day we were literally marked as we promised to turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel. We wore those ash crosses with pride and entered a time of fasting, praying and giving to others. With more of the 40 days to go, we look forward to marking Holy Week before taking Good Friday off to give thanks for the sacrifice Jesus Christ made to save each of us.

This month leads to another round of progress reports and student led conferences in our elementary schools. Once again, we ask all families to participate so we can continue to see great success in all our students.

We are pleased to say our 2018/2019 school calendar has been approved by the Ministry of Education. Thank you for considering this as you make vacation plans.

As a Board, we are raising funds to protect and promote Catholic Education in our province, and we are holding a raffle. The grand prize is four tickets to the Eagles concert, and there are also two cash prizes. For more information about how to buy tickets, please visit our website.

Your support for Catholic Education is very important to us. Thank you for choosing a faith-based education for your children, and thank you for participating in the faith journeys of each of our students. More information is available online at

Student Involved Conferences

This March, parents will be invited to a Student Involved Conference or Celebration of Learning to discuss your child's progress so far this school year.  The approach we have used to report student learning is one that is a multi-faceted process. The Student Involved Conference is an important and valuable part of this process to provide parents with a more in-depth understanding of their child as a learner. As you participate in the Student Involved Conferences or Celebration of Learning you will discover your child's areas of strength and areas where they can continue to grow. It will be a team approach with student, parent and teacher.

We invite parents to preview the documents that are posted on our division web-site which provide additional information on assessment, grading and reporting.

Thank you for the time to celebrate and learn more about your child's school success.
