Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! Our theme for this year is “Let Your Light Shine,” and we are confident that the Light within the Regina Catholic School Division will shine very brightly.
We are very blessed to have the gift of Catholic education in Saskatchewan. The support of our communities has been outstanding, particularly in the wake of the Theodore legal decision. The latest news regarding Theodore is an appeal from the Saskatchewan Catholic School Board Association, as well as the provincial government. The government has also invoked the notwithstanding clause. Fundraising has been initiated by Saskatchewan Catholic School Divisions to support the Appeal. More information about Catholic education and making a donation can be found at www.catholicedspirit.ca
This year marks a year of great growth for Regina Catholic Schools. We have three brand new schools: École St. Elizabeth, St. Kateri Tekakwitha School, and St. Nicholas School. Each will be opened with an Official Blessing from Archbishop Donald Bolen, as well as a Grand Opening event with the Ministry of Education. We pray that these new schools bring as much life and learning into their communities as each of our existing schools do.
As we return from what we trust was a relaxing and fun summer holiday, we pray that each of our students, staff members and families is ready to face the new school year with joy. Studying, homework and learning begins anew, and we take time to set new goals, learn new skills, and renew our relationship with God.
“Sharpen your gaze in order to see the signs God shows us in reality."
