We want to begin by thanking you for your continued commitment to supporting Regina Catholic Schools. This past year has been a year of change and many challenges for our community and we thank you for your patience as we navigate through the pandemic and everchanging health protocols.
Each spring, our Board of Education prepares the budget for the 2021-2022 school year. Providing high quality Catholic education continues to be our top priority. Due to an anticipated shortfall in budget for the 2021-2022 school year, the Board of Education has explored areas where cost savings can be made without impacting classroom supports and services. A decision has been made to change Kindergarten programming to full day, every other day effective September 2021. Other school divisions offer this model of kindergarten programming and have found success, and we hope to build on that for our students as well. Savings from transportation will be used to address the budgetary pressures the school division is facing..
Planning has begun at the division level to work towards a smooth transition for both staff and families. We recognize that this will be an adjustment for our Kindergarten families and acknowledge that you will be seeking a schedule as soon as possible in order to plan your childcare/work schedules. We anticipate the schedule/calendar for kindergarten to be ready by the end of June.
Again, we recognize the stress of these times as we journey together as a faith community. Together, we will work to make this transition a positive one for both our youngest learners, for you, and our committed staff.
