Greetings from the Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!
We are Regina Catholic Schools. Know, Love, Serve.
As we gather in our classrooms once again, we focus this year on the middle word from our theme, Love. While we return to school during the 19th month of the global COVID-19 pandemic, it is so important to combat the challenges in our world with love. Love for God, love for our neighbours, love for ourselves.
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Matthew 22:36-40
We pray the summer has been restful and fun for your family. The 2021-2022 school year brings a few changes in our school division. We are welcoming Kindergarten students for full days every other day for the first time. Additionally, we have contracted a new transportation provider. We welcome First Student Canada to get our students to and from school safely each day.
Some important dates to remember this month including the staggered start on September 2 and 3. After that, we all have the three-day Labour Day Long Weekend before returning to a four-day school week. Monday, September 20 is a day off for all students, moved to this day to allow for additional safety in our schools which serve as polling stations for the federal election. While Thursday, September 30 has been declared a new federal stat holiday, it will continue to be is a school day for us. September 30 is Orange Shirt Day, where students and staff continue to spend the day to learn, journey and walk in Truth & Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Saskatchewan.
